Feeding the Gulf Coast teams up with Hard Rock

Feeding the Gulf Coast and Hard Rock Hotel and Casino teamed up this afternoon to help feed local children.

This is the eighth year the two have paired up to pack bags for students. Each bag is packed with food for children to eat on the weekend when they’re not at school.

Feeding the Gulf Coast serves 24 counties from Mississippi to the Florida panhandle. Their main goal with this program is to ensure no students go hungry over the weekend. Feeding the Gulf Coast programs manager Monica Williams said, “One in four kids in Mississippi suffers from food insecurities and a lot of our schools are able to provide free lunches and free breakfast for the kids during the school day. On the weekend there are some issues with that, with the insecurities and not having enough food. This is where we step in.”
