Favre to Throw Out First Pitch at Shuckers Game Sunday

One man known for his arm on the football field will soon see what he can do on the baseball diamond.
Soon-to-be NFL Hall of Famer and Kiln native Brett Favre will be throwing out the first pitch for the Shuckers on Sunday. Sunday’s game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos is also Breast Cancer Awareness Day at MGM Park. Favre and his wife Deanna founded the Favre for Hope Foundation in 1995.  After Deanna completed breast cancer treatment ten years later, they made part of their foundation’s goal to assist in financial support for breast cancer patients.
The Shuckers hope this is the beginning of a long partnership. Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting for Shuckers Chris Harris said, “With the Shuckers we want to showcase them and help them raise awareness and funds for different causes. On Sunday, it will be Breast Cancer Awareness Day and we will be partnering with the folks over at Memorial Hospital for the Deanna Favre Fund. The great work that they do to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness, it’ll be a big day with Brett Favre coming out to throw the first pitch.”
On Sunday, fans are encouraged to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.
