Fatal shooting in Moss Point

One man is dead after attempting to rob a home in Moss Point Sunday.

The incident happened early yesterday morning on Frederick Street at 8:03 a.m. where officers responded to a report of shots fired.

Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley says the suspects kicked in the front door of the residence. A 25-year-old male fired a handgun at the suspects as they gained entry inside of the home.

News 25 spoke with Sgt. Lancen Shipman of the Moss Point Police Department. Sgt. Shipman said, “We have one individual who is deceased and one who is in critical condition who is being life-flighted to USA Hospital. The whole situation is being investigated right now.”

That suspect in critical condition was suffering gunshot wounds to the chest. His condition is unknown at this time.
