The family of late Judge Sheila Osgood speaks in Moss Point
The family of the late Judge Sheila Jackson Osgood gathered at Moss Point City Hall Friday in honor of her memory.
Osgood’s three surviving sons were joined by family members as the oldest, Nubian Holmes, talked about his mother’s legacy.
Osgood was found stabbed to death in her Moss Point home Wednesday.
The family asked for understanding and care on behalf of their brother, who was shot dead by authorities at the scene after failing to comply with demands to drop his weapon. “My mother was the definition of a strong black woman. There was nothing she could not handle. She taught us with faith all things are possible. All of us here today and so many more that you may not see here tonight were touched by her life are part of her story. We ask God to have mercy on our brother’s soul. We do that because my mom would have done that. She wouldn’t have harbored any ill will. She wouldn’t want us to dismiss him. She would have wanted us to remember him in his fondest capacity and we ask that you do the same.”
Celebration of life arrangements are to come in the future.
