Family escapes house fire on West Wortham

A family escaped a fire in their home Wednesday night off West Wortham Road.

Twelve firefighters and seven trucks from Harrison County Fire Rescue and CRTC responded to a report of a house on fire on West Wortham. When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the roof, said Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan.

The family of five and their pet were already outside the home when firefighters arrived.

It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation
