Family cookout for veterans and family

With the long holiday weekend coming to a close, the Labor Day celebration is almost over. For our military members overseas, it can be difficult for them to celebrate at all.
Luckily, members of the American Veterans joined together and hosted a cookout today for veterans and military family members. The event consisted of games, a moon bounce for the kids, and plenty of food and drink.
Commander of the Amvets Post in Biloxi, Jim Ski, tells News 25 it feels good to give back to military families. “There’s a big burden that’s put on the family that’s remaining here whether it’s the wife or the husband to take care of the kids, pay the bills, all the responsibility and then there’s the loneliness involved and the parent being gone that the children have to deal with and they don’t understand why they’re gonna be gone, but they know that they are going to be gone.”
Commander Ski and other members of the Amvets say their mission is to help family members of those in the military because they know the experience of being away from their own families.
