‘Extend a Hand, Help a Friend’ hosting back to school drive-thru jamboree
‘Extend a Hand, Help a Friend,’ is hosting their back to school drive-thru jamboree tomorrow at 5:45 p.m. in the rear parking lot of Gulfport Central Middle School.
They are giving away more than 400 backpacks. Each backpack is filled with school supplies and two face masks.
If they do happen to run out they will have people on standby to go get more materials for students.
Sponsors collectively donated more than $5,000 to make this event possible.
This drive-thru jamboree is open to everyone although a student must be in the car to receive the materials.
Apart from giving away school supplies, there will also be people at the jamboree assisting in voter registration and conducting a census. ‘Extend a Hand, Help a Friend’ CEO Jeffrey Hulum III said, “We’re having struggles in certain districts not having enough technology so by getting this census done that will give us the financial support we need in this area. So, every kid can have a computer, a laptop, so they can have the virtual opportunity.”
‘Extend a Hand, Help a Friend,’ is also having a community food drop at 9:45 a.m. Saturday morning at Milner Stadium in Gulfport.
