Expected Weather Raises Flood Concerns
With heavy rainfall comes flooding concerns, especially for those who live along rivers.
The National Weather Service projects the Biloxi River will crest at 13 feet based on the expected amount of rainfall going into Friday morning.
Emergency officials are also keeping an eye on the Wolf River which is expected to crest just below flood stage at seven feet. Harrison County Emergency Management Director Rupert Lacy said, “Our grounds are getting saturated. Of course, that’s not going to help on water runoff. We are starting to see more and more heavy rains. They’re becoming more predominant. We could see trees fall because of the winds. The trees, the root balls are in a moist ground, could push things over, so we want people to be cautious about that.”
