Enhanced Fan Safety at MGM Park

The countdown is on until the Shuckers return to MGM Park and already the organization is making a few changes to the stadium.
Following recommendations from the Major League Baseball organization, the Biloxi Shuckers will extend the protective netting behind home plate to cover the seating area behind both dugouts. President of Minor League Baseball Pat O’Conner has endorsed this decision as well.
Director of Media Relations Chris Harris tells News 25 the extended net will better protect fans in the stands this season. “It’s something that most teams are doing this year. Every team has to do it by next year. We’ve become the fourth team in our league to make these changes and we felt like for the safety of our fans and for them to be able to enjoy the game to the fullest, it’s something we had to do.”
Harris says the Shuckers plan to finish extending the net sometime within the beginning of the season. Architects are currently taking a look at just how they will change it.
