‘Engineering is Elementary’ at Lynn Meadows
‘Engineering is elementary!’ That’s the message Lynn Meadows Discovery Center wants to send kids and parents across the Gulf Coast.
Thanks to a grant from the Joe W. Dorsey and Dorothy Dorestt Brown Foundation, local children are learning valuable science skills through a new program developed by the Museum of Science in Boston. Kat Hamiter, a retired science teacher of thirty years, leads the classes.
Today’s lesson was geared toward finding a ‘slick solution’ to clean up oil spills. It is one of eight exercises that expose children to various fields of science and engineering.
Other projects from the program call for designing parachutes, submarines, and much more. Call 228-897-6039 for more information.
