Energy saving Christmas lights
If you’re looking to deck the halls while saving a buck, we may have a solution.
This year when buying Christmas lights consider purchasing L.E.D. lights. Just like using energy efficient light bulbs in your home, making the switch with your holiday lights could save your wallet in the long run.
Mississippi Power Spokesperson Jeff Shepard says this is a great way to save. “We totally recommend if people are going to be upgrading, buying new lights every year, you got to buy them anyway. If you’re at the store and look they might cost an extra 50 cents, extra dollar more per box, something like that up front, but you’ll see an energy savings over a couple years that will more than make its self up for that dollar you’re paying right now.”
L.E.D. lights consume 80 to 90 percent less energy than average bulbs and last up to 100,000 hours versus the 3,000 for other bulbs.
