Eli ‘Sarge’ Jackson Makes First Run in Politics

Tuesday, News 25 spoke with the reform candidate for the 4th U.S. Congressional seat, Eli "Sarge" Jackson. This is the 57 year old Hattiesburg resident’s first run at politics.

A veteran Marine who still serves in the Mississippi Guard, Jackson believes his experience serving our country here and overseas will help him better serve the people he would represent in Mississippi if he’s elected to Congress. Jackson says one of his top priorities as congressman would to be to toughen laws on convicted drug dealers. Jackson also says he’s not concerned that his opponents have massively outspent him on the campaign trail.

He says, "Life is an uphill battle. It makes no difference how hard the task is. I’m ready for it. I’ve been preparing for it all my life."

Jackson also expressed concerns over the amounts of money the nation’s lawmakers have accepted for their political campaigns in years past.
