Eighth annual Light of Hope Ceremony

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and Youth Advocates gathered in Diamondhead tonight as they continue their mission to combat abuse.

CASA of Hancock County recognized individuals who go above and beyond to protect children in their communities at their Light of Hope event.

Local government and law enforcement officials were on hand to present awards and speak including District Attorney Crosby Parker.

Diamondhead resident and CASA volunteer Mary Craig is the 2021 CASA Advocate of the Year and she says helping kids in Hancock County is a team effort.  “CASA works collaboratively with Judge Favre’s court, with the schools, with communities, with other non-profits that exist in Hancock County and throughout the state.”

Other awards presented include Outstanding Community Professional and Child Protection Services Worker of the Year.

2020 award winners were also recognized at the event as well.
