Edbuild Recommendation Analysis

An associated press analysis finds nearly 80 percent of Mississippi School Districts would get more state money under Edbuild’s school funding recommendations.

The AP also reports the suggested formula would increase state spending by 75 million dollars overall and raise some district’s required local tax contributions.
The AP analysis predicts almost 20 percent of districts would see state aid shrink; meaning local leaders could have to cut spending or raise property taxes.
It’s important to note the AP projections are if Edbuild’s Recommendations are implemented as they were presented.
Lawmakers are likely to change the proposal to include some, but not all of the private firm’s recommendations.
