Economic Vibe in Gulfport

As National Tourism Week continues, members of Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast met with fellow businesses to discuss travel on the Coast.
6.2 million visitors came to the Coast in 2016, an eight percent increase from 2015. Those visitors spent just shy of two billion dollars, up ten percent from 2015.
Officials also discussed their current strategies for building tourism numbers, one being the One Coast license plate tag. A brand new app was also launched this week. Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast Executive Director Renee Areng said, “The app ‘My Gulf Coast’ for that helps you navigate from the shrimp signs on I-10 to find everything there is to see. Download ‘My Gulf Coast’ from either the Apple Store or Google.”
The ‘My Gulf Coast’ app is free. You can register yourself for the specialty tag at Gulfcoast.org.
