Economic development on Division Street

The area of Division Street near the under-construction Keesler Gate will soon experience some major changes.

Biloxi is accepting bids on the demolition of nine properties in the area between I-110 and the new gate near Forrest Avenue to prepare for a new economic development corridor in that area.

The corridor will feature new space for many businesses and that stretch of Division will be a four-lane boulevard.

Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich hopes a variety of businesses spring up in the area. “You see seafood, you see different kinds of services. We had veterinarians and who knows what it’ll be. Maybe some restaurants, maybe some, you know, just whatever winds up on a boulevard like that ‘cause it’s going to be a real neat place, a show place.”

Bids for the demolition of those structures are due by 4 p.m. on February 19th at Biloxi City Hall.
