Easter services adapt amid COVID-19

Easter celebrations were very different this year due to Coronavirus social distancing guidelines, but churches on the Coast were still there for worshippers.

Pews were empty at Nativity BVM Cathedral in Biloxi, but Bishop Louis Kihneman celebrated Easter Mass as scheduled for those in the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi with cameras set up to livestream to viewers on YouTube and Instagram.

Bishop Kihneman hopes this Easter celebration brings a sense of hope to people as they continue to worship while staying at home. “The disciples experienced Jesus risen from the dead and that’s really what’s meant for us. We are to experience him risen from the dead in our families and home, where they work or wherever it may be to let him and the risen Christ truly live for us and be a sign of hope in the midst of all that’s going on.”

Daily Mass is streamed from the cathedral on the Diocese’s YouTube page at 8 a.m. Monday through Saturday and on Sundays at 11 a.m.
