East Hancock County Library to Close

The East Hancock County Library in Diamondhead is closing due to lack of funding. The library has received $73,000 worth of funding cuts over the past two years.
When the library first opened in March of 2013 no additional funding was provided for its operation. As a result, a budget for four libraries had to be stretched to run five. Expenses were cut all across the library system in hopes to keep East Hancock up and running. The board of trustees voted to close the Diamondhead location in order to save the rest of the library system.
The expected close date for the library is set for December 31st, or earlier, this year.
