Early morning fire in Harrison County

Harrison County Fire Rescue & CRTC responded to an early morning fire Tuesday morning.

Two people escaped the fire before firefighters arrived and crews were able to rescue one dog unharmed from the fire. The home was destroyed in the fire.

The fire is being investigated and believed to have been caused by a heating unit.

With the cold weather forecast for the area, fire officials recommend that heating units be checked and cleaned before the first use.

Fire places and portable heaters should have attention and be checked that they are in good working order.
