Eagle banding in Gautier

Mississippi Power, Mississippi State University, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service partnered on an eagle banding project at the Mississippi Sandhill Crane Refuge in Gautier.

They’ll use the data collected to track the movement of these eagles and see how they grow.

This is the second year in a row that these groups have worked together on this project.

They also took blood samples to be able to genetically sex the eagles to be able to identify over time if there’s a bias in the sex ratio population.
