A Hurley man has been sentenced to 25 years with 20 to serve in prison for a 2016 DUI death and leaving the scene.
Twenty-five year-old Markey Tanner was found guilty for striking and killing 22-year-old Megan Dekleinhans in February 2016. Dekleinhans was walking on Lamey Street in D’Iberville when Tanner struck her with his vehicle and fled the scene.
During his guilty plea, he admitted to drinking alcohol while at a Mardi Gras parade and at several bars after the parade.
Officials said Tanner’s blood alcohol content was .165 percent, more than double the legal limit.
