Drew Brees to join NBC Sports as Sunday Night Football analyst

A day after announcing he was retiring from professional football after 20 seasons, former Saints quarterback Drew Brees told Hoda Kotb on “Today” that he will join the NBC Sports team as a studio analyst.

Kotb tossed Brees the ball with the question, “So what’s next, Drew? Whatcha got cooking?”

“Well, I’m going to be working for NBC,” he said with a grin. “I’m part of the team now — a new team. I’m excited about the journey.

“I’m excited to stay very closely connected to the game of football … It’s been such an important part of my life. And I get to continue to talk about it and bring a passion for it and bring my kids along for the ride with it as well and let them be part of those special moments.

Kotb talked to Brees about his career and what he would miss the most about being a player.

“There’s so many things … the moments on the field after the games. I think those are the things my kids most looked forward to. It’s the game after the game

“I think that’s been one of the most special parts of this journey is watching our kids grow up through this.”

Brees also said during his interview with Kotb that he and his family will continue with their philanthropic efforts in New Orleans. “I’m most excited about those things, because I believe that’s where we can make the biggest impact,” he said.
