Drew Brees celebrating 40th birthday

When it comes to this point in the NFL playoffs, the last thing teams want is a distraction. The New Orleans Saints usually don’t have a problem staying on task, but last night they made an exception to ring in a new age of Who Dat football with an early 40th birthday celebration for quarterback Drew Brees.

His actual birthday is Tuesday which will make him just the 16th quarterback in NFL history to start in the league after turning 40-years-old.

With age comes experience and Brees has been around long enough to see the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Last year’s exit from the postseason was certainly the bad and the ugly while Sunday’s triumph over the Eagles would qualify as the good. “I just know this, if you do things the right way long enough good things happen, right? And if you play this game long enough you’re going to be part of some crazy stuff. You’re going to be on the winning side of some of that crazy stuff and you’re probably going to be on the losing side of some of that crazy stuff. Unfortunately, losing side last year. Fortunately, winning side this year. Couple other moments where I thought we’d be back here but yeah, it just goes to show how difficult it is. And so we certainly appreciate that opportunity.”

The Saints and Los Angeles Rams will kick off the the NFC championship game at 2:05 p.m. Sunday from the Mercedes Benz Superdome.
