Dragon boats flood the Coast

Dragons set sail at the Dock Bar and Grill on Saturday.
Hundreds of locals came out to support the second annual Gulf Coast Dragon Boat Festival that featured 22 teams in a friendly dragon boat race. Each boat had 20 rowers and a drummer, all paddling 250 meters one way.
With a minimum of two races, teams battled each other to become the Dragon Boat Champs of 2017. Sam Evans with United Way of South Mississippi said, “This event is just one of those ways that you can get families and kids outside and enjoy the beautiful water that we have and all the great weather that we get. It’s a water sport, a friendly competition, which we all know the Gulf Coast loves and it’s just something fun to do on a Saturday afternoon.”
The fundraiser helps support United Way of South Mississippi in its mission to improve early education.
