Donut with a Cop

Gulfport police officers brewed coffee and conversation this morning with residents in the city.
Gulfport Public Library hosted the department’s first Donut with a Cop event. Residents had the opportunity to speak with police officers as well as Chief Leonard Papania on their concerns in Gulfport.
Nine-year-old Tommy Ennis tells News 25 he has waited all week for Donut with a Cop. His dream of becoming a police officer was solidified as he hopes to become part of the thin blue line. “I want to be a police officer when I grow up. So me and my dad, we decided to go and I’ve been waiting for this all week so this is kind of my dream.”
Chief Papania said, “It’s again that one on one opportunity and hearing directly from our citizens allows us that opportunity to ensure us we’re doing what we need to do.”
The nine-year-old spoke with several officers and received an honorary Gulfport police badge.
The next Donut with a Cop event will be held in the Orange Grove area.
