Don’t Worry, Be Happy fundraiser
For eleven years, the Mental Health Association of South Mississippi has put on their ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ fundraiser event.
This event raises awareness and money towards the importance of taking care of your mental health. The fundraiser was filled with music, food, and silent auctions. This 501-C3 organization has been around since 1963 raising awareness for mental health.
The 2018 recipient of the Annette O’Keefe Humanitarian award went to Todd Trenchard. He had words of encouragement for those who may be going through a state of depression in their lives currently. “Never give up. If you get knocked down, get up. If you get knocked down, get up again. You just have to keep trying and keep going in a positive direction. Eventually you will address those issues that are causing you some problems, lay a foundation. Little by little, your life is going to get a lot better.”
The MHASM has raised over $700,000 over the span of 11 years with this fundraiser.
