Disability Connection Art Ability Fair

The local non-profit Disability Connection will be focusing on ability at their upcoming annual arts fair.
This year’s theme is “It’s a Jungle in Here” and it will offer up a little something for everyone. So far, 40 schools and about 600 kids have signed up for the event. There will be lots of activities such as live music, pottery making and youngsters will get to dress up and use safari nets for photos.
This is the event’s eighth year but its purpose to help those with disabilities engage in the community remains the same. Disability Connection Executive Director Janie O’Keefe said, “It’s just a day to get kids with disabilities a chance to get engaged in the community, to give them something really fun to do, to maybe give them something that could maybe become an income for their future. We have a lot of fun.”
Because of its growth and popularity, this year’s fair will be held at a new location: the Biloxi Civic Center on Thursday, April 14th. Those with disabilities age eight and up are invited to attend.
