D’iberville School Bus Stuck in Flood Waters

During a normal D’iberville High School bus route this morning, a Harrison County school bus had to be rescued from flood waters.
Biloxi and Gulfport officials worked together to pull 27 D’iberville High School students to safety. Parts of Lorraine Road were barricaded off due to the weekend flooding. According to the Director of Transportation, Larry Benefield, the bus driver saw an opening in the barricade and thought the route would be safe. He ended up pulling to the side of the road when he realized the water was too deep. Ciara Desmon was on the bus and said the experience was quite scary. All students and the bus driver walked away with no injuries.
A military style vehicle had to transport the students into a different bus to take them to school.
