D’Iberville councilman Robby Ellis, wife arrested on simple assault charges

D’IBERVILLE, Miss. — A South Mississippi city councilman and his wife have been arrested on assault charges stemming from a domestic situation over the weekend, according to police.

D’Iberville Police responded to the home of councilman Robby Ellis and his wife, Chelse Ellis, on Saturday night, Chief Wayne Payne confirmed Sunday.

Payne said an officer noted that there were “signs of domestic violence occurring on both sides.” He didn’t comment further on the situation.

The officer arrested both spouses and they were booked on misdemeanor simple assault charges and released, according to our media partner, the Sun Herald. A judge issued a no contact order between the two.
