D’Iberville center holds offers from Southern Miss, Louisiana-Monroe
Being noticed by someone you’re trying to impress is always a nice little morale boost, especially in the world of college football recruiting. But as a cautionary tale, it’s important not to let that recognition go straight to the head.
So far, D’Iberville Center Louis Paul Smith is doing a pretty bang up job of that. He currently holds division I offers from Southern Miss and Louisiana Monroe as well as Kentucky Christian University of the NAIA. Right now, he’s in the middle of his junior season, less than 24 hours away from his first district game at Biloxi.
So, as one of five team captains, he’s all about first things first and figuring the rest out later. D’Iberville Head Football Coach Eric Collins said, “Yeah, Louie has been one of our more consistent players. And he does have a couple of offers, but I don’t think he worries about that. I think he’s worried about wins and losses for us right now, and he’s done a great job of that. So every week you can count on Louie to be consistent.”
“I have the mindset like this to where if the team does good, I do good, and that brings colleges in. But right now I’m just working as hard as I can, just like the team. That’s all of our mindsets. Work as hard as we can, and I’m blessed with the abilities I have and I’m doing the best that I can to stay humble in the process,” said Smith.
Smith is listed as a three star prospect according to 24/7 Sports.
