Diamondhead preparing for Mardi Gras
The City of Diamondhead is getting ready for one of their biggest days of the year that will be rolling in this weekend.
On Saturday, Diamondhead is having their annual Mardi Gras Day Parade. There will about 15 floats in the parade along with marching groups and golf carts.
This is one of the biggest events of the year in Diamondhead. Many people participating in the parade have been getting their floats ready for months now. David Sykes with the Diamondhead Parade said, “You know, it is fun. During the day and there is not all of that rowdiness or craziness that happens sometimes with the nighttime parades and it is easy to watch and be up close to the action so I think that is what the attraction is for families.”
The parade starts at noon at the Diamondhead City Hall. It will go down past Rouses and it will end at the Diamondhead Country Club. Over 1,000 people are expected to attend so officials recommend showing up early to get your spot.
