Diamondhead to host inaugural ‘Paddle Paradise Community Paddle’ event

This Saturday you can grab your paddle and head on over to the Diamondhead Marina for their kayaking event.

This is the City of Diamondhead’s inaugural ‘Paddle Paradise Community Paddle’ highlighting their Rotten Bayou Blueway.

The event is free and open to the public with registration starting at 8 a.m. It’s a three and a half mile paddle around Paradise Bayou.

The launch begins at 9:30 a.m. and participants will start and return at the Diamondhead Marina behind the Lazy Gator. The first 100 participants will receive a free t-shirt and swag bag. Bring your kayak, paddle board, or canoe as well as safety gear like a life jacket or flotation device. Diamondhead City Manager Michael Reso said, “The city has engaged and received tidelands grants, in I think 2018, to install two new kayaks along the Rotten Bayou Blueway. So we’re excited to go and try to promote that event. We’ve partnered with NOAA, Paddle the Gulf, and the Lazy Gator.”

Following the paddle you can also check out the after party hosted by the Lazy Gator. They’ll have food and drink specials with live music from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
