Dexter Kelly Due In Court Today Jackson County
The trial for Dexter Kelly, the Vancleave man accused of beating his teenage cousin to death back in April of 2016, has been delayed until April 17th.
The trial was originally expected to begin this morning, but according to District Attorney Tony Lawrence, Kelley’s mental competency exam has yet to be completed.
Sixteen- year-old Cliff Allyn was reported missing after he was last seen with Kelley. His body was found in the woods behind his grandmother’s home the next day.
A Jackson County grand jury indicted Kelly on a charge of murder. Kelly pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
