Development ideas for Point Cadet
The City of Biloxi has been discussing development for the Point Cadet area for years.
This afternoon the discussion was continued as the city hosted The Waterfront Center, a group based out of Washington, D.C. The group specializes in waterfront development and helped plan the waterfront plan back for Biloxi back in the 80s.
Today, representatives from local businesses along with local and state governments voiced ideas on what they would like to see come to the Point.
Some of those ideas include improving the marina, making Deer Island more accessible, and seeing more development in the vacant lots of Point Cadet. Ann Breen with the Waterfront Center said, “We basically did a windshield survey of the entire area, not only Point Cadet, but all around the whole waterfront, which is extensive and a challenge for the next number of years.”
Dick Rigby with the Waterfront Center said, “I’m optimistic based on today’s discussion. It was a good turnout. That’s starters.”
The public is invited to the follow up meeting. It will take place tomorrow at Biloxi City Hall at 10 a.m.
