Despite Algae Concern, Fishing Rodeo Reports Great Turnout

A long-running event here on the Coast is wrapping up another successful year. Saturday was the last day of the 72nd Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.

The event kicked off on Independence Day, but participants and visitors got to experience unique weekend competitions, including the kids fishing rodeo and cast net competitions.

Anglers adjusted their fishing plans due to the algae blooms near the Coast, but still brought in good hauls of fish.

Rodeo President Richard Valdez says many fish came in every day and attendance was great.

The rodeo awarded prizes each day to participants in a number of different categories.
