Design Team Selected for Gulfport Aquarium

Progress on the Gulfport aquarium is moving along just swimmingly.
The land across from Jones Park is secured. Funding is coming from the state Legislature. Now, the Gulfport Redevelopment Commission has accepted a proposal from architectural firms for the design.
The Mississippi Aquarium at Gulfport will be designed by local firm Eley Guild Hardy and PGAV out of St. Louis, Missouri. Gulfport Chief Administrative Officer Dr. John Kelly said, “We’ll continue to do our fundraising but this design team will start work and work with the city administration, the council, as well as the GRC to really sharpen the ideas that were presented to us. Hopefully after it is designed, we can go ahead and start construction on the project itself.”
The Gulfport Redevelopment Commission will now be entering contract negotiations with the firms.
