Derby Day at the Palace Casino
Looking for a place to watch the 144th Kentucky Derby on Saturday? Look no further than the Palace Casino in Biloxi. Not only will they be celebrating the run for the roses, the casino will also be cheering for their casino owner’s undefeated thoroughbred.
While owners of the Place Casino Robert and Lawana Low are gearing up for the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, staff members in Biloxi will cheer for undefeated Magnum Moon here on the Coast. Palace Casino Digital and Social Media Specialist Shelby Waldron said, “We are doing our Derby Day Giveaway at Contact Sports Lounge. We will have boxes set up for each of the contenders.”
Players club members, which is free of charge, will receive a free entry at the kiosk to deposit their choice for the derby winner. At the end of the race, five winners will receive a hundred dollars in power play. “If Magnum Moon wins, ten winners will actually get five hundred dollars in power play,” said Waldron.
Magnum Moon is undefeated in four races this year and earned a spot in the Kentucky Derby by winning the Arkansas Derby. So, you can imagine the staff members at the Palace Casino are just as excited as the owners of the casino. Palace Casino Food and Beverage Director Jim Brown said, “It’s been amazing here. Our associates can’t wait to have our owner’s horse run. We have been looking forward to it since the last time they had a horse in the derby.”
Power play money will not be the only promotion at the casino. The Palace will have shirts, cups, and even a three dollar specialty cocktail called ‘Magnum Moon.’ “We have spent hours trying to develop this special drink,” said Brown. “The secret is going to be in the rose petal extract. It’s going to bring the Kentucky Derby right here to us.”
