Department of Defense putting safety measures in place at Seabee Base

As those at the Seabee Base are mourning the loss of one of their own, they are also taking precautions when it comes to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

The Department of Defense has put numerous safety measures in place to help protect those on the Seabee Base.

Along with following social distancing guidelines, the Department of Defense has also raised their Health Protection Condition Level across the department. They are currently in Health Protection Condition ‘Charlie’ which is the second highest of those conditions. Captain Bill Whitmire said, “As an expeditionary force and a force by which our nation projects power, the Navy’s mission is critical to keep going during and even through this Coronavirus environment. So, in order to do that the most important asset we have is our people.”

The Seabees still deployed now are still training and officials say that will continue through the Coronavirus pandemic.
