Defense bill could bring work to Ingalls

U.S. Senator Thad Cochran says an agreement on a final defense appropriations bill would increase funding for new ships for the U.S. Navy that will involve shipbuilding in Mississippi.
Senator Cochran says he is confident congress will approve the agreement that would provide $21.2 billion for Navy shipbuilding programs, some of them to be conducted in South Mississippi at Ingalls.
The House could take up the defense funding measure this week with Senate consideration to follow.
