Dedication to First Female NFL Official

Tonight, the City of Pascagoula honored Sarah Thomas, the NFL’s first female official, making history or her-story.
The gym inside of the city’s recreational center is now known as the Sarah Bailey Thomas Gymnasium. In addition to that special dedication, Pascagoula Mayor Jim Blevins presented Thomas with a key to the city. Family, friends, old teammates and more traveled to the flagship city to witness the dedication first-hand. Former Pascagoula High Principal Sarah Maghan told the crowd she always knew Thomas would grow up to be a trailblazer.
“I really never set out to do anything, to break a barrier or be a pioneer. I just was doing something because I loved it. Thank God the folks at Pass Point Association here in Pascagoula didn’t turn me away. They’ve just kind of set me up for where this journey has taken me. It still hasn’t hit me that I’m a part of history. I’m just doing something because I love it and that’s probably the message that I would have to anyone,” said Thomas.
After the dedication, Thomas had a chance to mingle with familiar faces, sign autographs and enjoy plenty of food and cake.
