Deadline met for down payment on shelter for trafficking victims

South Mississippi is one step closer to becoming home to the first ever human trafficking shelter in our area.

Leaders with Jubilee Havens tell News 25 they just raised the $10,000 needed for a down payment to secure the chosen site of the Jubilee Havens Refuge Shelter for Human Trafficking Victims.

Leaders with the nonprofit told News 25 they were about $2,000 short of the money needed by the July 31st deadline for the down payment.

The community and local donor stepped up to help out and just in time to meet the goal and raise the money needed for the site.

The next funding phase for Jubilee Havens will be for renovations of the home.
