David Mohler, longtime owner of The Tatonut Donut Shop, passes away due to COVID-19 complications
OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV) — David Mohler, longtime owner of The Tatonut Donut Shop, passed away on Tuesday due to complications from COVID-19.
The popular businessman had underlying medical conditions that made him vulnerable to the virus, including heart and lung issues, his family says.
Tatonut has been closed since Sunday, Jan. 10, when Mohler was hospitalized.
Mohler is survived by his wife Theresa and his daughter Katelyn.
In a post to the shop’s Facebook page on Wednesday morning, his wife made the following statement:
“It is with a heavy heart that Katelyn and I confirm the news that David, our everything, has passed from this life into the arms of his loving Heavenly Father. We know he was greeted by the cutest little brown eyed girl, that he has missed so dearly for the past 10 years. Despite the efforts of an amazing health care team, his underlying conditions left him virtually defenseless against Covid-19. We appreciate the outpouring of love, support and condolences. Please be patient with us as we navigate arrangements in this challenging time.”
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Services, but details have not yet been released.
