Dangerous Temperatures On The Gulf Coast

Tony Wehner tells News 25, “Incredibly hot in the afternoon, suffocating actually yesterday, so get it done early this morning so it’s at least somewhat cool.”
The heat index in South Mississippi reaching over 100 degrees in certain areas, Causing many to rethink about fun in the sun.
Tony Wehner tells News 25, “I used to play volleyball out here on the beach and absolutely, this heat will get you.”
Laurene Callander tells us, “Whether you are outside for work or play…the heat can get to you. And you want to make sure you know the signs so you don’t end up….in here.”
Charles Wise “You can have some confusion, you’re going to be sweating profusely, cramps, it depends on where you’re at and what stage you’re going through at that time with that and after heat cramps comes heat stroke which is the more serious out of the three which can lead to permanent brain damage or you can even pass away from it.”
So far in 2016 AMR rushed to 22 heat related emergencies 6 alone in June.
If your job requires you to work outside drink plenty of water, use sun screen, and know when enough is enough.
Charles wise “Try to take in at least 16 to 32 ounces of water every couple of water every couple of hours and go from there, because it can come very quickly in regards to what happens.”
