Daily passenger service to Ship Island, Fort Massachusetts begins Saturday, March 14 from Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Ship Island Excursions will resume daily passenger service to Ship Island and Fort Massachusetts on Saturday, March 14th.

The ferry boat company is owned by the Skrmetta family of Biloxi, now in its 94th year of operation.

This season, the company also will offer 90-minute dolphin-watching trips along with tours of the Port of Gulfport aboard the historic Pan American Clipper.

The boat dock and ticket office are located on the west side of the Gulfport Yacht Harbor next to the replica of the Ship Island Lighthouse.

“The island beaches and surrounding Gulf waters are beautiful this time of year, with shelling and birding now at its best,” CEO and Captain Louis Skrmetta said.

All public facilities on the island will be open, including food service, restrooms, showers with changing rooms and covered picnic areas.
