Daijha Richardson inks with Alcorn State softball

Harrison Central’s back-to-back-to-back state championships in softball didn’t happen by accident. The Red Rebelettes have always had next level players, like Daijha Richardson, to lead the charge.
Today, the senior centerfielder signed with Alcorn State University, joining the likes of former teammates Amari Ramsey and Desirea Lindsey. They all had parts of some of those state titles from 2014 to 2016 and Richardson still has one more season to leave her mark on the program.
She’ll then be able to help pass on her winning ways in Lorman where she says she’ll always cherish the opportunity to live out her dream. “Well, it is a big milestone. I mean it’s one check off the bucket list. I’ve always wanted to play college ball, so having this opportunity I feel very blessed and humbled to have it. So, it can only push me to work harder in order to keep it and make all the people proud.”
Harrison Central Head Softball Coach Jimmy Parker said, “It means a lot. It means a lot to me just to see where they came here in the seventh grade playing for our middle school program to making it to the college level. I’d like to see her win a championship this year and then I would love to see those kids win the SWAC championship while they’re there and make it to an NCAA regional.”
By this time next year, Coach Parker says there will be five former Red Rebelettes playing for the Lady Braves.
