CTA and Singing River Health System partnered up for vaccine event

The Coast Transit Authority partnered with Singing River Health System to host a free vaccination event on Saturday at the Biloxi Transit Center.

The CTA offered both the Johnson and Johnson and the Pfizer vaccines at the event. The organization also offered free fixed-route bus rides and free demand response rides to anyone that was unable to drive to the location.

The fixed-route covered areas in Ocean Springs, St. Martin, D’Iberville, Biloxi, and Gulfport.

The goal of the event was to help limit transportation barriers to the vaccine for the people in the community. CTA Executive Director Kevin Coggin said, “We’re all in this together. We’re a public service agency. We’re doing this as a public service with Singing River Health System. We’re going to continue to do these kinds of things, public health services in the community. We serve a lot of low-income people that may not have the convenient access to health care, so it’s the reason why we’re doing all this.”

Coast Transit Authority will host the event again for the second round of shots on August 28th at the same location with free fixed-rides available then as well.
