CSX inspections to begin next week in Biloxi

CSX inspectors will complete a diagnostic review next week of the entire Biloxi railroad corridor.
The inspection comes a month after four people died when their tour bus became stuck at the Main Street railroad crossing and was hit by a CSX train. Since then, the Biloxi City Council has approved the closure of six crossings at Nixon, Holley, Iroquois, Dorries, and Delauney streets as well as Querens Avenue.
After closing those crossings, the city hopes to open two new ones, one when construction begins for the Popp’s Ferry extension in west Biloxi and one to finish the road loop around east Biloxi.
