Cruisin’ the Coast raffling car for Make-A-Wish Foundation
Along with giving visitors the opportunity to see cars from around the world, Cruisin’ also gives visitors the option to support a cause like the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Every year, Cruisin’ raffles off a vehicle and donates the proceeds to the foundation. The donation is normally around $30,000.
This year, they’re raffling off a yellow Ford 32 Roadster with a 350 Chevy engine in it. The tickets are $10 for one or three for $25.
The car will be in Centennial Plaza all week during Cruisin’ so come check it out and it’ll be raffled off on Sunday. Cruisin’ the Coast Executive Director Woody Bailey said, “Our main mission statement is to help the economy of South Mississippi during the typical slow time of the year. We’re doing a good job at doing that. When we can do other things like this with Make-A-Wish and help other charities out, it’s just a real win-win for everybody. So, we’re happy about doing that too.”
Make-A-Wish South Mississippi Director Shellie Moses said, “We have been directly impacted by COVID by the lack of fundraising. So, we’re super excited that Cruisin’ the Coast is taking place on the entire Gulf Coast because it is really helping our charity and all the kids out there waiting on the wish.”
Along with helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Cruisin’ also donates money to other local charities. There are 12 car clubs that volunteer. Cruisin’ the Coast gives each of these car clubs a portion of their proceeds to give to a charity on the Gulf Coast.
