Cruisin’ the Coast autocross course

Spinouts and the smell of burning tires were abundant this afternoon in Biloxi as motor enthusiasts gathered at the Coast Coliseum for Cruisin’ the Coast’s autocross event.

Drivers were allowed to bring their own cars and try out their driving skills on the autocross course set up for participants.

On-lookers were also given a chance to get in on the action. Dozens of people lined up for their opportunity for a wild ride.

New York native and Cruisin’ the Coast veteran Ricky Fuerst was one of the viewers that wanted to get in on the action. “We didn’t even know what it was. We said well let’s go over there, we’ve never done it before. And we came over here and see these guys racing. And then we found out that we can go for a ride and I was like ‘let’s do it.’ And it’s wonderful, I mean, it’s like a roller coaster. My knees were shaking when I got out of the car. My stomach felt a little funny. And we didn’t eat this morning.”

If you missed out on the fun today, the autocross event will be happening Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. as well.
