Cruisers celebrate at the annual Ocean Springs Sock Hop and Street Party

Ocean Springs’ premiere Cruisin’ the Coast event hit the streets of downtown tonight and they threw it back to the 1950s, complete with classic cars and poodle skirts.

The Sock Hop and Street Party was moved up a day from its usual Friday slot due to uncertainty regarding the track of Hurricane Delta.

Cruisers had the opportunity to win $200 in the ‘Chick’s Picks’ car contest and enjoy music and activities on the main stage at Rosetti Park.

Local officials say they’re glad they were able to host this unique event once again. Cynthia Sutton with the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce said, “A lot of people come every year to this event, our local businesses get their repeat customers, so it becomes like a big fun family event here in Ocean Springs.”

Cruisers will still be able to enjoy the downtown area and music on Friday weather permitting.
